This Wednesday was an especially important one for the community of Point Edward, Ontario as it witnessed the launch of operation of the completely renovated gaming venue on Venetian Boulevard. The location overseen by Gateway Casinos recently went through more than a year of renovations as some CA$26 million was poured in the premium venue.
Operation on site never ceased throughout the entire renovation, guaranteeing that gaming enthusiasts will have the chance to give the wide array of offerings on site a try. This was done as to avoid any dame to the gambling revenue generated by the casino venue, as the British Columbia operation was significantly affected by the 19-week strike of casino workers.
The official re-launch of the location was celebrated by the community with the help of a ceremony which was attended by the casino location’s General Manager Linda McColl.
Casino Operation Continues with a Fresh Look
She made it clear that this is a brand new beginning of the casino operation, focusing on diversifying its offerings and providing players with both gambling and more family-friendly offerings. The renovation included construction of the Match Eatery restaurant venue which is completely independent of the gambling venue. This comes to show that the location is willing to attract a non-gaming audience as well.
People from the community that are not interested in gambling, but still would like to enjoy the premium food offerings could do so in a way that does not necessarily include entering a casino facility. Furthermore, there is now the special Nova Bar which already launched operation and has been enjoying quite the attention in the past few months. It brings the vintage vibe of Vegas in the ‘60s to players and people of legal age in need of a new thrill.
In addition to those non-gaming offerings, the location also saw an expanded casino floor which is able to provide a much wider array of gaming offerings now. There are as many as 25 live tables available on site, as well as 494 slot machines guaranteeing everyone interested will have the opportunity to give their luck a try.
Point Edward Bags CA$1.3 Million over Two Quarters
It could be recalled that the gaming location preferred by many individuals in the region as well as by people traveling from neighboring communities used to bear the name OLG Casino Point Edward but earlier this year the casino developer and operator received the rights to oversee the location and rebrand it as part of the Southwest Gaming Bundle.
Now the complex has been given a fresh face and the well-known Starlight brand, marking the first such location in the Ontario province. Across some 75,000 square feet payers from near and far could enjoy what Gateway Casinos is best known for. The past few months saw an increase in the workforce on site, as 40 people were added to the staff in order to see for the expanded operation. This is how the overall number of people working at Starlight Casino Point Edward reaches 340 individuals.
It could be recalled that the month of October saw the city receiving the first installment coming from Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation. It amounted to CA$655,543. This is the amount of gaming revenue the municipality is eligible for at the end of the July-September period also referred to as Q2 2018. Thanks to this latest payment, Point Edward has managed to amass some CA$1.3 million since the beginning of this fiscal year.
