Prince Edward Island is Canada’s smallest province. It is one of three maritime provinces and is an important agricultural area, sometimes PEI is called “Garden of the Gulf”. Less than 150,000 people live in the province which comprises Prince Edward Island and about 230 smaller isles. The capitalΒ is Charlottetown, which is also the province’s largest city and home to one of the two small casinos located there. The other casino is in Summerside. There are also three BingoWorlds there: Charlottetown, Summerside, and Alberton.

The province enjoys good tourism and offers visitors a variety of attractions and pursuits in addition to casino gaming and horse racing. Famous for its seafood, and other locally sourced fare, several festivals are held throughout the year highlighting the area’s culinary delights. There are several parks, trails, and beaches to explore including the 26 Provincial Parks, 8 of them with lifeguard services. You’ll also find rich historical, cultural and arts offerings with the native Mi’kmaq’s heritage still very apparent with Celtic and Arcadian threads weaving the unique PEI culture together.

Gambling services are attended to by the Atlantic Lottery Corporation (ALC) for the benefit of the Prince Edward Island Lotteries Commission, which is a shareholder of the ALC along with the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, and the commissions of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Instant win and draw lottery tickets are available online and at a number of retail establishments throughout the province.

ALC is a Crown Corporation, owned by the government for the benefit of communities and citizens in each of the member provinces. The administrative offices are located in Moncton, New Brunswick. ALC was formed in 1976. There has been a push in recent years for the ACL to join other provincial lotteries in offering a more robust online gaming experience. They currently only offer online bingo, parlay sports betting, instant wins and lottery products. Residents are also able to place bets online for Red Shores live horse racing through HPIBET.

There are no First Nation gambling venues in Prince Edward Island.

Red Shores Summerside is located at the Summerside Raceway on the southwest side of the main island. There is one live blackjack table there along with 28 slot machines and 12 video lottery terminals (VLT). Open seven days a week, the last known race dates at the track were in 2017. However, fans can bet on live streaming races from Redshores Charlottetown.

Redshores Charlottetown is also open seven days a week and offers simulcasting, live harness racing, and a much larger casino. Here you’ll find 200 slot machines along with two blackjack tables and two Ultimate Texas Hold’em tables. This is also the only place in the province to sit in licensed live action poker. With such a small population it is nice to see true table games, heads up poker, and such a great variety of slots at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino. Of course, live race dates are a special treat. Even at the smaller Summerside facility you can bet on the ponies, play blackjack when the table is open, and try your luck on the slots and VLT keno and poker games. If you plan to play bingo there are times throughout the year when the prizes are huge, such as the Ultimate Bingo Event with $40,000 in available prizes.
