Oneida Indian Nation Provides Homes for Staff

This week, the Oneida Nation of Indians has made an important announcement for its staff members and potential new recruits. On Monday, the tribe informed that it will be making over 50 apartments available in central New York, which will be available for hourly workers at very reasonable prices. This decision is a way of attracting new workers for the season.

Through Oneida Nation Enterprises, the Oneida Nation of Indians owns and operates numerous gaming properties in central New York. This includes gaming hotspots such as Turning Stone Casino Resort and Point Place Casino. The company employs more than 4,500 individuals for its gambling activities and other business, and it is now looking to add even more.

Available at Below-Market Price

Previously, the tribal corporation informed that it is in dire need of new staff additions as the summer season is typically busier. That is why the tribe is now looking to recruit more individuals for its casino and hospitality amenities. And in order to provide them with accommodation, the company will make 50 new apartments in central New York available for its existing and new workers.

The new housing opportunities will be in the US$15 million complex near the Nation’s Turning Stone Resort Casino west of Utica. The building will start to accept tenants from July 1, 2022. The tribe informs that the apartments will be available for new full-time employees who will be relocating to the area and for those who are filling positions where there are not enough workers.

Oneida Indian Nation Representative Ray Halbritter issued a statement on behalf of the Native American tribe. He said that the investment in staff housing will help the company fill crucial full-time, hourly positions at its casino resort. Some of the positions include cooks, dealers, hotel jobs, and more. In his words, the tribe has been heavily impacted by employee shortages.

In addition to that, Mr. Halbritter also commented that he believes that the five-building apartment complex which will open for workers in the summer, will attract many new employees. Renting options at The Villages at Stone Creek will begin at US$550 per month for a one-bedroom apartment to three-bedroom apartments available for rent at approximately US$750 a month.

Turning Stone Resort Casino

Oneida Nation Enterprises’ Turning Stone Resort Casino is one of Empire State’s premium gaming amenities. Last year, the Verona-based gaming property won an impressive amount of 24 honors at the 2021 Gaming Awards by Casino Player Magazine. As voted by patrons, the casino won 14-first place trophies including Best Overall Gaming Resort, Best Hotel, Best Suites, Best Pool, Best Spa, Best Golf Course, and more.

The Oneida County gaming establishment is also the home of many prestigious poker tournaments, as last year it welcomed the World Series of Poker. The tournament made its New York debut as it held preliminary rounds in November 2021. Finals for the renowned competition stretched to the spring and the winner also won a US$10,000 seat at the WSOP “Tournament of Champions” in Las Vegas in 2022.
