The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation is once again reminding its players about an expiring ticket from Lotto 6/49. This time, the ticket was purchased in Etobicoke and it comes with a cool prize of CA$43,651.50 from the Saturday, September 17, 2022 draw of the game. The winner has around two weeks to contact OLG and claim it.
OLG is a state-run corporation that conducts and oversees brick-and-mortar casinos, the sale of lottery games, online gaming, and the delivery of bingo. Via its operations, the Crown has managed to provide almost CA$57 billion in economic benefit to the province by supporting the battle with problem gambling, healthcare, helping amateur athletes, and charity organizations.
Clock is Ticking
The Crown agency used a press release to remind its players that the prize worth CA$43,651.50 is close to expiring for good. The ticket was purchased in Etobicoke and its printed date corresponds to September 17, 2022. Therefore, it has 52 weeks before expiring. According to OLG, it also comes with a winning selection of 03-09-15-21-33-49 with Bonus Number 13.
In order to be eligible for the prize, players will be required to match five of the six main numbers, plus the bonus number to get their hands on the second prize. The Crown corporation reminded that every prize has a 52-week expiration period. The owner of the winning ticket should fill in the back portion, sign it, and contact OLG about claiming it at 1-800-387-0098.
OLG also reminded its players that tickets can be checked for winning from home in several convenient ways. The first one is to check the winning numbers on OLG.ca. The second is to install the OLG App on their mobile devices, and then proceed to scan the barcode on the ticket. Individuals can also subscribe to receive emails with winning numbers or call the WIN! Line.
CA$70-Million Prize Goes Unclaimed
Previously, OLG started a campaign to find the winner of another unclaimed prize. This time it was a ticket from Lotto Max which was worth a stunning CA$70,000,000. The Crown agency shared that after its statement it received hundreds of calls from people claiming that they have lost the life-changing ticket. However, a winner was not found and the windfall expired on June 28, 2023.
OLG’s spokesperson Tony Bitonti shared that since May 23, 2023, the Crown received about 760 calls about the expiring ticket. He further elaborated that those calls included general inquiries about the ticket and individuals who claimed to be the owners of the ticket, but said they had lost it and were unable to find it.
However, on a more positive note, in July 2023, Ontario saw a local claim a hefty prize from Lotto Max. A woman from Kingston won the amazing CA$22 million in June 9, 2023, but she claimed the windfall in July. It happened while she was on vacation and was informed about the tremendous news from OLG.
