Progressive raffles tend to attract quite the crowd of people with its multiple draws and promises of a generous cash payout. The Royal Canadian Legion branch located in Mitchell, Ontario recently gave green light to Catch the Ace coming with regular draws and cash prizes. October 4 is about to see the next regular draw that would be the second one for the community. All eyes are set on the prize.
Catch the Ace is known for being one of the progressive raffles that bring mutual benefits to both players and the organization that holds its multiple draws across several months. As with games of chance, players try their luck with the purchase of a ticket for participation ahead of the regular draw. If their ticket is drawn, they have the chance to draw a card and hope for an Ace of Spades.
Second Draw on Oct. 4
This particular card has the potential to grant the player the entire progressive jackpot amassed up until that point. In addition to that, the player is also eligible for a percentage of the proceeds from the draw. Such a positive development could happen at any given point of the progressive raffle, however, the later it happens, the bigger the payout.
If the player picks a different card, the said card is removed from the deck and all proceeds from the said draw are added to the progressive jackpot that could be bagged during the next regular draw. The Royal Canadian Legion is a renowned supporter of people who have served as military, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, provincial and municipal police, Royal Canadian Air, Army, and Sea Cadets.

Its noble agenda aims to support the people that have served this country and their families. Legion executive member Paul Clarke decided it is time for the organization to come up with something new and exciting that could be a win-win situation for the community of Mitchell. September 27 saw the first draw at the branch welcoming a relatively modest crowd. Expectations are that as time progresses, more and more people would register for participation and for a chance of winning the hefty prize. Nancy Clarke was the first player to draw a card from the deck.
Even though she could not locate the Ace of Spades, she received CA$116 for her participation. The correct prediction in this first draw would have resulted in a cash payout of CA$290, but now the second draw is expected to bring a more generous cash payout. Every ticket costs some CA$5, making it a rather affordable raffle offering. It could be recalled that back in February, another Ontarian won Catch the Ace hefty jackpot.
Mark McEachen from Douglas became the fortunate player bagging a jackpot reaching CA$547,002.50. His lucky ticket supported the Deep River and District Hospital equipment upgrade. At the very beginning of the raffle, the hospital foundation set a goal of CA$20,000. Over the span of the first 50 weeks of Catch the Ace lottery players have been able to pour in about CA$750,000.
