The New York Racing Association provides locals with yet another opportunity to find employment during the summer season. The association has started its job recruitment fair on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, which will go through to July 14. The week-long events will take place at the Saratoga Race Course, in the Big Red Spring Tent.
The purpose of the new recruitment fair is for the association to have enough staff members for the upcoming 40-day summer at the Saratoga Race Course which starts on July 15. The meet will feature 76 exciting stakes with US$21.5 million in total purses. The US$1.25 million Runhappy Travers is the most anticipated one this summer as it will be the 152nd edition of the stakes.
Busy Summer Ahead
The hiring events have already begun on July 7, but there is still time as the fair will continue every day until Wednesday, July 14, 2021. Interviews will be held every day from 12 to 3 p.m. at the track’s open-air Big Red Spring Tent. The association informs that applicants must enter through the main gate at Union and East Avenue and park in the main lot.
According to the racing association, the available positions will include – betting clerks, cashiers, cleaning staff, food service, hospitality, merchandise assistants, parking attendants, program sellers, security guards, waitstaff, and white caps. The said positions will be available with NYRA, Integrated Staffing, Levy Restaurants, AllPro, Union Square Events, and Dyehard Fan Supply.
In order for candidates to apply, they must be at least 15 years of age and provide the needed New York State Certified Working Papers. However, cashiers, betting clerks, and security guards must be of at least 18 years old for the positions. All applicants must also provide a photo ID and social security card or I-9 alternative. The association also reminds all unvaccinated individuals to wear protective masks.
Everything is set for an exciting summer for the horse racing fans in the state, as the summer 2021 meet will feature 76 thrilling events. The meet is highlighted by the Grade 1, US$1.25 million Runhappy Travers on August 28, and the Grade 1, US$1 million Whitney on August 7. The official opening of the meet is set for July 15, and the events will stretch over the course of four days, then events will be conducted five days a week.
Full Capacity
Thanks to permission from Governor Andrew Cuomo, the New York Racing Association announced that the Saratoga Race Course will be able to use its facilities at full volume. The increase of audiences comes just in time as it corresponds with the beginning of the track’s 2021 summer meet. Vaccinated individuals will not be required to maintain physical distance, and will be able to use the premises at full capacity.
TV Coverage Returns
The association will also provide TV coverage for the exciting 2021 summer meet as Saratoga Live makes its official return this year. The award-winning tv program will feature 220 hours of live broadcasts of the stakes for the fans who want to enjoy it from the comfort of their homes. The show will debut on July 17, with a special weekend program covering the Grade 1, US$500,000 Diana Stakes.
