NYRA Presents Summer 2021 Meet Career Expo

At the start of June, the New York Racing Association has broken the news that it will be hosting a job fair in order to recruit some individuals and offer work ahead of its summer 2021 meet at the Saratoga Race Course. The event will be held on June 11, and 12, and candidates are welcome to visit the track where the event will be and apply for a position.

The meet will be 40-day long, and it will include a total of 76 stakes, with more than US$21 million in overall purses. It will start officially on Thursday, July 15, and is expected to finish on Monday, September 6, provided that there are no changes caused by the unprecedented situation. The racetrack will be able to welcome guests at almost full capacity during the 40-day events.

Exciting Summer Ahead

Director of Communications Pat McKenna at the association stated that the team is extremely optimistic about the 2021 summer meet, especially fans who will be able to attend at almost full volume. He explained that the association will be looking into hiring hundreds of seasonal and part-time workers at its job fair at the Saratoga Race Course this week.

The recruitment event will be taking place at the racetrack in open-air event pavilions, as candidates come in for interviews. It will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, June 11, and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 12. Mr. McKenna is hopeful that there will a huge interest in well-paid jobs and quality job positions.

The association informed that during the fair it will be looking to hire individuals for the following roles: hospitality ambassadors; guest services; cashiers; admissions attendants; parking attendants; Bets Squad representatives; white caps/ushers; box office; betting clerks; general labor; security; porters; cooks; waitstaff; bussers; concessions supervisors and cashiers; cleaners; TV production; and technology support.

Candidates coming along for applying must enter through the main gate at Union and East Avenues and park their vehicles in the main lot. The association warns unvaccinated individuals that they must complete the temperature check before entering, along with wearing a face mask and comply with social distancing rules. Applicants must also be of the legal age for the respective position and provide the needed working papers.

Almost Full Volume

Horse races in New York State are nearing their usual self as earlier the Saratoga Race Course announced that it will be allowed to welcome fans at almost full capacity for its summer meet. The track revealed that fans who present proof of vaccination through the NYS Excelsior Pass will receive free entry to the venue’s Grandstand. While non-vaccinated visitors must comply with the standard health and safety rules.

The racetrack officially welcomed fans back for the first time since the beginning of the unprecedented situation at the start of May this year. The venue operated at a visitor capacity of just 200 individuals at a time. And fans had to undergo temperature checks upon entering the premises. However, negative test results for the virus were not required.
