Popular venues to the likes of Century Casino & Hotel Edmonton, Century Casino St. Albert, Century Mile Racetrack and Casino, Century Downs Racetrack and Casino, as well as Century Casino Calgary welcomed their first patrons for the first time in three months.
Alberta casino locations recently received permission to recommence in-person gaming with the appropriate protective measures introduced to the casino locations. Brick-and-mortar casinos and gambling halls across the province had to come to a halt mid-March, as the unprecedented situation took its toll. The province-wide lockdown affected many businesses since physical distancing was the recommended practice.
Successful Reopening
Premier Jason Kenney made it clear that the second phase of the business reopening plan is going to feature all casino locations and gambling halls. They were originally supposed to reopen during the third phase of the plan, but an amendment was made. This allowed brick-and-mortar gaming facilities to reopen as soon as June 12. Those of them that had been actively preparing were quick to act.
Century Casinos announced the official reopening of all of its five gambling venues across the province. Century Casino & Hotel Edmonton, Century Casino St. Albert, Century Mile Racetrack and Casino, Century Downs Racetrack and Casino, and Century Casino Calgary are now open for business. All of them have been welcoming casino patrons since Saturday, as people were eager to place their first bet after the lockdown.
Up until now, Alberta players had to rely on online gaming as the sole legal gaming opportunity remaining during the unprecedented situation. Exactly three months have passed since the official closure mid-March. Many of them were ready to queue up in front of the casino locations ahead of the official reopening. All safety measures have been introduced across the casino venues overseen by Century Casinos.
Racetrack Relaunch Soon
Slot machines are going to be frequently disinfected, as all players touch them often in order to gamble. Physical distancing will also be promoted with the help of various floor markers distributed across the gaming floors. Century Casinos is also preparing for the official launch of horse racing on the premises of its racetracks. Century Mile Racetrack in Nisku and Century Downs Racetrack in Rocky View County will relaunch soon.
The first days of June saw Century Casinos relaunch its restaurants at Century Casino St. Albert and Century Downs Racetrack and Casino. For the gaming enthusiasts, pari-mutuel off-track horse wagering was also available online, giving them a chance to win big while warming up for live horse racing soon. Cash Casino Calgary and Cash Casino Red Deer also witnessed their official reopening recently.
Jamil Ali, one of the owners, pointed out that the past three months have been long ones and the reopening has been an eagerly anticipated one. All safety measures issued by the Alberta Health Services have been implemented across the gaming locations. This includes various guidelines when it comes to in-person gaming.
