Alberta is ready to reap the benefits of the relaunched in-person gambling within the borders of the province. Now that table gaming has officially returned, the regular events with a fundraising element are bound to relaunch too. The first one following nearly half a year of hiatus will take place on September 17 and September 18, welcoming back individuals interested in gaming.
Gabriel Kreiner, Executive Director of the Francophonie Jeunesse de l’Alberta, has wanted to see a change for quite a while, seeking more information on when fundraising events at casino venues will be once again allowed. Each of these events brings hefty amounts of gaming revenue allocations to the province and the various projects it has in the plans.
New Gaming Opportunities
Francophonie Jeunesse de l’Alberta has been amassing up to CA$70,000 over a single fundraising event, an amount that is later used for various projects and for the support of its ongoing operation. The return of these regular events powered by table gaming that launched only recently is projected to have a positive impact on the gaming field and the province of Alberta as a whole.
Alberta Gambling, Alcohol and Cannabis Commission recently reached out to make it clear that September 17 is about to see the return of this type of regular event bringing together like-minded people ready for gaming challenges. Fueling special events to the likes of Youth Action Rally and the Alberta Youth Parliament is possible with the help of the aforementioned fundraising casino events. Over the past nearly six months, they have been prohibited.
Alberta was among the first provinces to close its brick-and-mortar casino venues mid-March, seeking ways in which it could protect both its casino workers and patrons making their way there. Several months later, mid-June, Century Casinos Incorporated made it clear that all of its casino locations in Alberta have commenced operation. They welcomed their first patrons in months and offered slot machines gaming solely.
Fundraising Starts September 17
Century Casino & Hotel Edmonton, Century Casino St. Albert, Century Mile Racetrack and Casino, Century Downs Racetrack and Casino, as well as Century Casino Calgary, were the locations to launch operation and they were also among the first venues to reopen on a national scale. Slot machines were the only available form of gambling for months until last week saw River Cree Resort and Casino greenlight table gaming.
Pure Canadian Gaming made it clear recently that fundraising events at Pure Casino Edmonton, Pure Casino Yellowhead, Pure Casino Calgary, as well as Pure Casino Lethbridge are going to launch in the foreseeable future. All safety protocols needed for their normal operation are going to be implemented. Vince Pao, General Manager of Marketing for Pure Canadian Gaming, stated that patrons’ safety is of utmost importance.
Events which failed to take place due to the lockdown would soon be introduced, as the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission is working on the renewed live schedule. Projections are that more than half of the usual audience of these fundraising events would return to their spots at the casino venues.
