Last Thursday, the province of Alberta announced the second winner of its vaccination lottery incentive program called ‘Open for Summer’. The second winner of the CA$1 million prize is Amie Gee from Calgary. The next draw is scheduled to be held on September 30, 2021, and it will be open for Albertans who are fully vaccinated.
Similarly, to other Canadian provinces, Alberta introduced the vaccination lottery promotion as a way to encourage more residents to get the jab and increase immunization rates. According to the provincial data, by last Thursday, over 1.85 million residents have registered for the special lotto program. In order to be eligible for the next draw, locals must 18 years old and have been vaccinated with at least two doses.
Next Big Winner
Last week, the winner Ms. Gee participated in a video call with Premier Jason Kenney who congratulated her and her winning and discussed the matter. She believes that if more people get the vaccine, it will be then easier for the province to return to normality. Also, in her words, she plans to spread a little joy with the big prize.
Besides, the main CA$1 million prize, the draw has also awarded 42 travel prizes to 42 locals. These prizes were provided by Air Canada, WestJet, and the Rocky Mountaineer and Juniper Hotel. Premier Kenney said that there is no better way of celebrating getting vaccinated than treating yourself with an exciting trip.
During the video call, the Premier explained that the province introduced the lotto vax offering as a way to encourage more people to get immunized for the unprecedented situation and protect themselves and the community. Mr. Kenney said that the next target is to encourage more young people to get vaccinated and do the right thing.
The next and final draw of ‘Open for Summer’ is scheduled for the end of September, and it will be available for all Albertans that are over 18-year-old and that have been fully vaccinated with two shots.
