Lotto 6/49 and Lotto MAX were once again Canada’s most popular draw-based lottery offerings with generous Main prizes bagged by many lottery enthusiasts. The past few days have been especially hefty, as six individuals of the Monteregie region became eligible for a cash payout reaching CA$9 million following a Lotto 6/49 ticket purchase. Their lives were forever changed by the January 29 draw.
It often happens that Canadian lottery enthusiasts participate in the regular offering as a group. This makes the regular weekly draws a fun activity for the group to enjoy giving them the chance to potentially have their lives changed forever. Sometimes those are groups of coworkers that have known each other for years, or friends purchasing the ticket together. It is a bonding experience whatever the case.
Lotto Cash Payouts
In the most recent case of a group lottery win, the Monteregie group included six individuals that have been working together for years. Every week Marcel Blain, Robert Girard, Roland Guimond, Denis Lecourtois, Lisette Matte, and Marcel Plante have a lunch meeting during which they talk and are updated on the latest news. Mr. Plante was the one who found out about the grand jackpot.
He could not believe his eyes and a check with the lottery app had to take place. Thanks to the grand prize, the group of six is now planning their cruise together, celebrating their friendship. The beginning of this month saw Lotto 6/49 return with a Main prize reaching CA$5 million but as it turned out there was not a single winning ticket eligible for this cash payout. The jackpot survived soon after being claimed by the group.
The draw came with a guaranteed prize amounting to CA$1 million that could be claimed by a ticket sold in the Prairies. February 5 brought a Main prize amounting to CA$7 million, once again remaining untouched but also increasing the levels of participation. February 8 is about to introduce a Main prize of CA$9 million, once again introducing the opportunity of winning big.
Friendship Bonds Solidified
A Hamilton winner recently claimed his prize after months of hesitation. Tien Nguyen became eligible for a cash prize of CA$2.5 million back on December 4, 2019. His half of the prize was part of a larger CA$5-million lot, the other half of which was claimed in another Canadian province.
Mr. Nguyen had purchased his winning ticket ahead of the draw at Anna’s Lottery Shop on King Street, Hamilton. The Town of Hamilton attracted yet another cash prize, this time provided by Lotto MAX. A group of 14 individuals working at a homeless shelter became eligible for a cash payout of CA$1 million.
The Maxmillions lottery prize is going to be split into 14 slices and winners have already begun planning their next move. January 7 brought the special Lotto MAX draw bringing them the chance to change their life for the better. The ticket itself was purchased at Fortinos in Hamilton and according to the rules of the Crown corporation, the retail location would become eligible for one percent of the cash prize.
