Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady Raises US$17,000 for Charity

At the end of last week, Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady informed that it has collected over US$17,100 from its PINKtober Stay, Eat and Drink Pink breast cancer awareness campaign. Now, the money will be given to the American Cancer Society, in order to support the initiative of fighting breast cancer.

As the name suggests PINKtober Stay, Eat and Drink Pink breast cancer awareness campaign was held in October this year. The campaign generated proceeds from the sales of special food and beverage, room packages at its premium Landing Hotel, and donations from various team members. The casino has also recently organized the 12 Days of Giving special campaign around Thanksgiving.

Giving Back to the Community

Annemarie Dillon, Associate Director of Development for the American Cancer Society commented that the organization is thankful to be able to continue its partnership with the New York gaming property. According to her, with the donated money, the organization will be able to save more lives conditioned with breast cancer through their cancer research and patient support via the HopeClub.

Currently, in America, breast cancer is one of the most common types of cancer among women, and the American Cancer Society tries to support every affected community harmed by the disease. Additionally, Strides Against Breast Cancer raises capital in order to fund more innovative cancer research, as well as provide greater education and guidance for people to reduce the risks.

Director of Human Resources, Linda Waters for the casino explained that the battle against breast cancer is quite personal for many of the company’s team members and their families. She also says that the organization’s work is crucial due to their resources, support, and education on the matter. Ms. Waters concluded by saying that the casino is proud to be contributing to the cause.

The Schenectady-based property first opened in 2017 and since then it has been a major supporter to the American Cancer Society and it has backed its entire scope of work. This includes providing food for cancer survivors attending the Bon Appetit events at HopeClub, as well as creating employee teams at events such as Relay for Life and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, and sponsoring even more charity events.

Thanksgiving Campaign

At the end of November, the casino announced the start of another one of its charity campaigns named 12 Days of Giving. The new initiative kicked off on November 30, 2021, at 4 p.m., and the casino donated US$500 to each of the local community organizations, such as Animal Protective Foundation, Bethesda House, Proctors, Safe Inc. of Schenectady, and several others.
