Responsible Gambling Council of Canada Improves Services with Diversity Awareness

Gambling addiction is not an issue to be taken lightly, as it has the capacity to change people’s lives for the worst and affect the quality of their relationships. The Responsible Gambling Council of Canada recently announced it is collaborating with the All-In Diversity Project seeking to work towards a better understanding of diversity and inclusivity in the gaming field. This is the first collaboration between a Canadian entity and the project seeking integration of individuals from a different background.

When it comes to the gaming field on a global scale, individuals should feel welcomed and encouraged to showcase their skills to the fullest. The All-In Diversity Project is willing to educate giants in the industry and help them not only with working tools for diversification of the workforce but also by taking action in the right direction. It is also willing to explore the Canadian field, which could be possible via the collaboration it inked with the Canadian leading force in the problem gambling monitoring and prevention.

Partnership with the All-In Diversity Project Inked

The Responsible Gambling Council of Canada is on a constant pursuit of player protection and addictive behavior monitoring but for the most part, the approach it has is based on the specific demographic in the region it oversees. In this day and age, more and more people feel confident enough to seek support in trying times and they could come from various backgrounds. This is why the diversifying the personal approach would be crucial in the long run.

Christina Thakor-Rankin, Co-Founder of the All-In Diversity Project stated that the main task at hand would be to provide the council with a better perspective on inclusion and broaden the ways in which it could be useful for people in need of help. As a result of this collaboration, the Responsible Gambling Council of Canada will have the capacity to provide adequate support to individuals seeking it, in addition to gaming regulators of any country.

Operators developing on an international level would also be able to partner with the council in a more fulfilling way. Earlier this month the All-In Diversity Project attracted Malta Gaming Authority as a partner. Setting the tone in an already diverse field as the island country’s one. Known as the online gaming hub of Europe, Malta is willing to support the initiative and improve its manner of operation in the foreseeable future.

Canadians Want Reliable Gambling Addiction Services

The council is an active supporter of gambling addiction prevention, a task further facilitated by regular events aiming to inform individuals of the risks and first signs of addictive behavior. October 2018 saw the Responsible Gambling Council make its way to Peterborough for the Problem Gambling Prevention Week. A survey conducted by the council showed that individuals experiencing gambling addiction to a different extent amount to 3.4 percent of the permanent residents of Ontario.

The new partnership comes at a time when the Canadian gambling field is seeking better protection for players already struggling with gambling addiction. Self-exclusion programs are one of the ways in which individuals seeking support could ensure that their access to gambling venues is restricted. In the past issues with the efficiency of these programs have emerged and gambling enthusiasts have even gone so far as to question the reliability of this program.
