This week is one of huge importance to Red Deer Resort & Casino, as the resort will be launching its new casino on September 8, 2023, with a special grand opening ceremony. The name may be a new one and the renovations at the hotel are still ongoing, but the company said it is devoted to its guests, and it will always strive to provide outstanding service in a friendly environment.
Red Deer Resort & Casino is one of central Alberta’s premier hotel and conference centres with more than 241 unique guestrooms, 15 modern meeting spaces, and a spacious event centre that stretches over 53,000 square feet. But now, the resort is set to add a new premium casino to the mix, which will offer a new layer of entertainment to the region.
The Grand Opening is on Friday
George Yammine, CEO of O’Chiese Business and Investment Center, the company which owns the resort, said that the development of the casino is a significant milestone for the corporation and the City of Red Deer. He believes that the launch of the new gaming venue will be a massive factor in tourism and economic growth, by becoming a hub for entertainment in the region.
According to the company, the upgrades of the casino and the hotel are on schedule to bump employment by up to 20% as it would require the hiring of more dealers, servers, and housekeeping staff. The new amenity will be equipped with slot machines, table games, a poker room, dining rooms, a bar, and more. Making it a major attraction for visitors from all around the area and abroad.
It should be mentioned that the casino’s design pays tribute to the heritage of the O’Chiese First Nation and it is inspired by the sunrises over the Alberta prairies and the sunsets over the Rocky Mountains. There is also an integrated waterfall which is a symbol of the shared values of rooted connection to nature, ancestral lands, and the spiritual importance of water.
Adrian Strawberry, Hotel Operations Manager at O’Chiese Hospitality commented that the team is eager to welcome guests to the complex and provide them with a world-class entertainment experience. He remarked that the company and its members have put quite a effort into making the project come to life and are now looking forward to guests experiencing it.

Just recently, the resort kicked off the demolition process of its two iconic clubs – Longriders Saloon and Bellinis Sonic Lounge. They will make way for the construction of a new state-of-the-art event centre. process even attracted a group of locals some of whom used to work at the venue and came to say goodbye to the nightclubs.
In addition to that, the property recently hosted a special dinner for the people who managed to survive and escape from the wildfires in the Northwest Territories. The event took place on August 23, 2023, its aim was to show support and comfort for more than 120 evacuees who have found refuge in the property’s hotel.
