PointsBet Canada Kicks Off Sweep 16 Bracket Challenge

Curling is back and PointsBet Canada is giving fans a chance at winning a CA$1 million by predicting correctly the perfect bracket at the 2023 PointsBet Invitational. This can happen via the operator’s free-to-play Sweep 16 Bracket Challenge which is now open for fans to submit their guesses for the perfect men’s and women’s brackets for the event.

The company’s 2023 PointsBet Invitational kicks off on September 27, 2023, and runs through October 1, 2023, at the Sixteen Mile Sports Complex in Oakville, Ontario. The event is the first major of the 2023-24 curling season. For those who wish to catch some of the curling action from home, they can watch it live on TSN and RDS channels

Grand Prize of CA$1M and More

Chief Commercial Officer for the gambling firm, Nic Sulsky, noted that the objective of its collaboration with Curling Canada is to expand the sport. He said that after the successful launch of the tournament last year, the operator is pleased to offer more fan engagement with its innovative Sweep 16 bracket challenge.

Any player who correctly predicts all 30 games of the single-elimination event will be in contention for the CA$1 million prize. On top of that, the winner of the contest will win a VIP trip for two to the 2024 PointsBet Invitational. The package will include VIP passes, airfare, and hotel accommodation. However, the location and dates for the next event are not yet determined.

The runner-up in the contest will be awarded VIP passes for the 2024 tournament, while the remaining top 10 players will receive PointsBet Invitational prize packages. Also, predictions for the event can be filled out until its start on September 27 at 2 p.m. ET. It is available to all Canadians, excluding those in Quebec, who are 19 years of age at the time.

This year’s edition of the tournament also promises quite the excitement as it will feature Canada’s best teams and some of the biggest University/College, U-25, U-21, and grassroots talents. All teams will be eyeing to win a percentage of the purse, estimated at more than CA$350,000. There will also be a Celebrity Invitational event with a number of local celebrities playing a draw-to-the-button challenge.

Curling Expansion Efforts

It should be mentioned that in 2022, PointsBet hosted its first installment of its PointsBet Invitational. It took place from September 21 through September 25, 2022, at Willie O’Ree Place in Fredericton, New Brunswick. It included the top 16 teams from men and female squads, as well as the top 12 teams from the World Curling Team Ranking System.

Prior to the first edition of the event, the sports betting operator also teamed up with Canada’s Bottcher curling team. This partnership was announced in July 2022 and it arrived on the company’s collaboration with Curling Canada. Via the deal, it became the official sports betting partner of the sports league.
