Manitoba Might be Preparing for Casino Reopening

Manitoba casino locations and gambling halls are preparing for the official reopening of in-person gambling. The preparation process has already commenced, as casino venues are bringing their staff members together and conducting the needed procedures ahead of the launch date. Manitoba Government and General Employees’ Union issued information that the local industry might be preparing for a July 2 launch of brick-and-mortar casino venues.

The province of Manitoba appears to be paving the way for the official reopening of casino complexes and gambling halls. This process is an extensive one and it needs more preparation than the quick closing that took place back in March. Now the local gaming field is showing signs that local casino locations could be ready to open on July 2.

Casino Staff Ready for Orientation

Michelle Gawronsky is President of the labor union representing many individuals associated with the casino locations in Manitoba. She made it clear that June 22 has been pinpointed as the date when all supervisors would have to return to their place of work. They would have to conduct the orientation of their employees.

In this way, casino staff members are going to be well-informed regarding all changes to the regular operation. Every casino venue has its own layout and it requires a unique approach when it comes to the security measures that will be introduced. The beginning of this week will see the official start of training and orientation possibly eyeing the rapidly approaching date. Projections are that there would be enough time for preparation.

Casino staff members will be the first group of individuals to go through the orientation. Next up, food and beverage employees taking care of the restaurant areas and bar operation will have to also make their way to the casino complexes. They will see their unique approach to the orientation phase of the reopening plan across the province. Once this is done, the reopening could take place.

Upcoming Weeks Might See In-Person Gaming

Employees will be able to familiarize themselves with the new casino layout, as well as with the casino gaming offerings that would be available once the reopening has been completed. For the time being, July 2 has not been put in stone, but suggestions made in the past lead the labor union to think that this preparation is leading towards the first Thursday of July.

The government has not confirmed that this date would see casinos reopening, It could be recalled that Phase 3 of the business reopening plan is about to commence on June 22, but it does not include casino venues. Bingo halls and VLT lounges have permission to welcome individuals at 50 percent capacity. However, their reopening is said to be considered over the upcoming weeks, as the province is evaluating the current situation in Manitoba.

In the meantime, tribal casino locations might reopen soon but smoking might not be allowed. Premier Brian Pallister made it clear that only First Nations casinos prohibiting smoking inside the building will be allowed to recommence operation once the province of Manitoba allows brick-and-mortar casino gaming to return.
