British Columbia Lottery Corporation celebrates 35 years of gaming operation within the province of British Columbia this year. This calls for a look over the ways in which this gaming leader has supported its province and its sports field for more than three decades. The Crown corporation recently highlighted its achievement over the years.

The Crown corporation began its daily work back in 1985 and ever since then, it has devoted its efforts to the people of British Columbia. This meant that it worked on the progressive development of its gambling field, introducing various new offerings and making it as competitive on the North American market as possible. These efforts have increased with time.
Along with the gambling offerings up for grabs, the Crown corporation has also supported the sports field on a provincial scale, as this is yet another way for the people across the province to be united around one idea. This month is time for retrospection and taking a look at some of the highlights the leader has supported. Sponsoring grand sports events leaves a lasting impression on many individuals, as they begin to recognize the brand and associate it with such noble causes.
One of the most memorable events which saw the sponsorship of the British Columbia Lottery Corporation was the XV Commonwealth Games in Victoria. The event took place between August 18 and August 28, 1994. It could be recalled that back in 1988, Victoria’s bid managed to defeat those of New Delhi and Cardiff and became the winning one.
Sports Events Support
As many as 2,557 athletes from 63 countries participated in the games spanning over ten days. Queen Elizabeth II was also among the volunteers kicking off the sports event. Another special event for the Crown corporation took place in 2010. This is when the 2010 Winter Olympics which transformed Vancouver into the place to be, of you are a winter sports fan. Those were the XXI Olympic Winter Games commencing on February 12, 2010.
British Columbia Lottery Corporation was an official sponsor once again. In order to make the experience even more intriguing, it introduced the SportsFunder platform bringing many lottery games closer to the sports fans. People gaming on this new platform had the chance to win various Olympic-themed merchandise items that now have a collector’s value.
Its gaming revenue was later on used for the amateur sports and athletes of the province. It also helped boost the overall popularity of lottery gaming in British Columbia, by making it much more accessible. Projections are that this direction of support and development will continue to bring benefits to the province and its people.
