Kawartha Downs Lets You Walk in a Horse Owners’ Shoes for a Night

Kawartha Downs is on a constant pursuit of bringing new experiences to its regular racing enthusiasts, as well as attracting new faces. This Saturday is scheduled to introduce a new and exciting offer called ‘Own a Horse for the Night’. People will have the chance to get a taste of the horse people’s life and walk in a horse owner’s shoes for a night.

August 10 is projected to enhance the racing experience for nine individuals. Live horse racing is among the most popular pastime activities for many people not only in Canada but across North America. Many of them associate it with warm childhood memories that have stayed with them forever, making the regular visits to local racetracks much more special.

August 10 Would Be a Special Day

The betting opportunities live races offers are also among the main selling points of this pastime activity and Kawartha Downs is well aware of that aspect. This Saturday might be a dream come true for many horse racing enthusiasts, as the renowned racetrack is about to welcome some of them in a whole new world. Nine individuals will own a horse for the evening if they become part of the special promotion on site.

This means that they will walk in the shoes of a horse owner during some of the most important moments of the racing schedule. A race night is where it all comes down to the horse’s state of mind and the collaboration with the jockey. A horse owner has to be well informed about their racing horse and keep in touch with all people taking care of the animal.

The nine individuals fortunate enough to win a spot at the ‘Own a Horse for the Night’ would be able to walk around the backstretch and learn everything about it. This is the area adjacent to the racecourse where the stables are located where few outsiders have the chance to walk around.

CA$500 Pot at the End of the Race

The lucky individuals would also have the chance to spend some time with their ‘own’ horse in the paddock and bond with them. This would all pave the way to the actual live race, surrounded by preparation, as well as with an ongoing conversation about the horse. Every horse has its own well-rounded and collaborative team including the driver, the trainer, as well as the caretaker.

Said nine individuals will also be able to have a frank conversation about taking care of horses and their day-to-day tasks on site of Kawartha Downs. Once the live race commences, the nine fortunate individuals will have the chance to observe everything from the grandstand and eagerly anticipate the finish. For the top five horses on the official leader board, Kawartha Downs has prepared some CA$500 that would be shared.

This summer is a special one because of the birthday celebrations marking Kawartha Downs’ 47th anniversary. Every Saturday brings live racing, but July 13 was a special date, as it also introduced grand celebration with a DJ, games, and entertainment, as well as various prizes for many of the attendants.
