STARS Lottery Grants Alberta Players CA$4.5M in Vacations, Vehicles, Houses

STARS Lottery is ready to heat up Alberta and reward supporters of its great cause. Mike Lamacchia, Vice-President of Operations for Alberta and Saskatchewan, recently announced that tickets are sold out and now it is only a matter of time before players begin bagging their generous prizes. April 4 is scheduled to witness the first of several lottery draws that would span over to April 9.

Canadians are fond of lottery games, which guarantees substantial support to the community. This is especially true when it comes to lotteries that fund a renowned organization fighting for the lives of hundreds of Canadians on a daily basis. Such is the case with STARS Lottery which funds its air ambulance operation with the help of the annual lottery. Estimations show that this year the organization is going to bag some CA$10 million.

Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society Bags CA$10M

The support players offer is invaluable since it has the potential to save people’s lives. During its operation in 2018 solely, Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society has been able to fly as many as 1,400 missions with its air ambulance and optimize the transportation of people in need of help. The lottery aims to cover at least some part of the overall cost of operation.

This includes details to the likes of fuel, medical supplies, aircraft maintenance, pilots and air medical crews. Projections for this year’s lottery are that the amount amassed would ensure ongoing operation for one station. This could be either Edmonton or Calgary and would mean that the crucial spot continues operation over the following twelve months.

In addition to this funding, the STARS is also eligible for hefty financial support from the federal government. About CA$65 million is going to be poured into its operation, in addition to another CA$13 million coming from the Alberta government. With these bags of cash, STARS would have the chance to purchase new H145 Airbus helicopters.

Three Alberta Homes Await Their Owners

The current BK 117 helicopters have been in operation for the past 34 years and they ought to be retired at some point. Players were encouraged to participate in the lottery thanks to the three dream homes locate in Edmonton, Calgary, and Lethbridge. There are also some 2,800 prizes amounting to more than CA$4.5 million.

In a sense, the ultimate goal for this year’s lottery has already been accomplished, as the operation of each of the three bases costs about CA$11 million a year. Players had their last chance to purchase a lottery ticket on March 21 and ever since then they are eagerly anticipating the four final draws. Every ticket costs some CA$30, but for the more determined participants, there were special offers for multiple purchases, such as the three for CA$60 and 18 for CA$250.

Players also have the chance to win one of the adventure offers that could take them to the Mediterranean, the Philippines, the Caribbean islands, the lost city of Machu Picchu in Peru, and Belize. There also premium vehicles on offer, some of them being a 2019 Audi S5 Technik, a 2019 Lexus IS300, a 2019 RAM 2500 SLT Crew Cab, and a 2019 MERCEDES-BENZ CLA250. There is also the possibility of bagging a cash prize instead of the vehicles. All eyes are now set on the prizes coming this Thursday.
