Quebec Man Grabs CA$50M Prize in Lotto Max

Loto-Québec has unveiled the name of another big winner of a Lotto Max in the Province of Québec. This time Pierre Richer has claimed a windfall worth CA$50,000,000 after being drawn as the sole winner in the October 6, 2023 draw of the game. With the money, he will take some well-deserved off time, but he is not ready to retire yet.

Lotto Max is a nationwide lottery offering with two draws every week, one on Tuesday, and one on Friday. Its main and accumulative prize can reach the mind-boggling CA$70,000,000. But once the jackpot reaches CA$50 million, its draws also feature several Maxmillion prizes. Each of those comes at a hefty CA$1 million per reward.

Lottery Millionaire Returns to Work

Despite winning big in Lotto Max on Friday, October 6, 2023, Mr. Richer still went back to work on Monday. Now, with the money he plans on realizing one of his dreams to own a home on the outskirts of Montréal. He plans on taking some personal time to celebrate the CA$50,000,000 winning, but he does not plan on retiring anytime soon.

The winner shared some details on how he came into possession of the windfall. He was at the Super C on Boulevard Champlain with his daughter, and after getting the Thanksgiving dinner fixings, he bought a ticket for Lotto Max. The day after the October 6, 2023 draw, his significant other and his daughter used to Lotteries app and discovered the CA$50,000,000 winning.

After seeing Winner! on the screen, his daughter started screaming and the other family members thought that she was scared by a spider. But instead, it was some amazing news for the family. On Monday, October 9, 2023, Mr. Richer returned to work at 4:30 a.m. and the man in his sixties who works in shipping said he is not currently planning to retire.

Loto-Québec President and CEO Jean-François Bergeron shared a few words on this latest mega win recorded in the province. He reminded that last year, the Crown corporation awarded around CA$1.5 billion to local lottery players. He added that the agency is honoured to be contributing to the community in this way while also helping people make their dreams come true.

Previous Winners from the Province

Over the years, players from the La Belle Province have cashed out on some amazing lottery prizes in Lotto Max. Notably, in June 2022, Marcel Lussier from Brossard claimed a jackpot worth CA$70,000,000 from the nationwide game. The winner, previously employed by Hydro-Québec, commented that he used to work in the same building where he was handed his mega prize.

On that note, in December 2022, the Crown corporation announced that a group of ten people had won a Lotto Max jackpot worth CA$40,000,000. Each ticket holder was eligible for a CA$4,000,000 share of the December 16, 2022 windfall. At the time of the announcement, seven of the ten lucky winners had already taken home their cut of the massive reward.
