San Antonio Spurs History

The San Antonio Spurs crossed over from the ABA into the NBA in 1976. This was also the season the Spurs hired Gregg Popovich as the head coach. Duncan, Parker, and Ginobili retired one by one, and the Spurs couldn’t make the playoffs for the first time in 22 years after a shortened 2019/20 season. Consequently, this would result in a complete team rebuild and the Spurs missing the postseason for four straight years.
