Throughout the years, British Columbia Lottery Corporation has implemented many tools for player protection that aim to prevent problem gambling rates from growing. On a provincial level, one of the latest innovations introduced was the PlayPlanner that keeps track of time spent playing and reminds players to maintain a healthy relationship with gaming. The system is going to be implemented at all casino venues and community gaming centers in British Columbia.
Maintaining a healthy relationship with gaming and making sure that gambling does not interfere with your normal day-to-day life is essential when participating in gaming activities. Many players consider themselves able to put an end to their gaming activities at any given time. Very few people could make the first step towards handling their gaming habits and admitting they have a problem that should be taken care of.
PlayPlanner Launches Soon
The provincial lottery corporation has been working hard in order to come up with a wide range of problem gambling battling tools available for every player. The latest introduction to this palette is the PlayPlanner that is here to stay. The new tool aims to make it easy for players to stay on their schedule when it comes to gaming, essentially keeping track of their gaming habits as well.
Every player regardless of the time they have spent gambling or the frequency of in-person gaming would now have the chance to use the tool. It would be installed throughout brick-and-mortar casino locations and community gaming centers across British Columbia. At the beginning of every gaming session, they could set their goal for gaming and PlayPlanner would show reminders for the time left.
This gives every player the freedom to play on their own conditions taking into account the time they are willing to spend gaming, but also the money they could burn through. Even though some players already gamble this way, the technology added to it and the regular prompting notification would aim to give them more control.
Encore Rewards Members Benefit
All Encore Rewards members are about to enjoy this additional tool which also offers a budget option. They could set a money limit on slot machines sprinkled across the gaming floor, as well as on eTables available there. Said members earn points while they wager or spend cash at slot machines, eTables, offering Blackjack, Roulette, and Baccarat. Once they earn enough points, the player could redeem them via free gaming action at a slot machine or a table game.
Dr. Jamie Wiebe, BCLC Director, Player Health, said that this new tool would make it easier for players to make an informed choice when it comes to gaming and never lose track of time or money spent. Adjustments are also easy with only several clicks within the user-friendly settings interface. BCLC wants to ensure that players have the opportunity to seek support without the judgment factor at all times and feel comfortable talking about their relationship with gaming.
GameSense kiosks are located across all BCLC casino venues, as well as other community gaming centers such as Chances Chilliwack, Chances Maple Ridge, and Chances Campbell River. Great Canadian Gaming Corporation oversees the latter ones. By the end of this year, all gaming locations in British Columbia should have one of those special areas.
