British Columbia Lottery Corporation recently expressed its support towards a proposed Center for the Arts located in Kamloops. This is where the lottery corporation has its headquarters and it only makes sense for it to support the local development in one way or another. BCLC’s Interim President and CEO Greg Moore recently voiced the company’s support.
Development and new opportunities for local artists to thrive are always a positive change for the community. Kamloops is on the verge of a similar move, as the community could soon welcome the new Kamloops Center for the Arts project. The project is still in its initial stages of conversation but the Crown corporation overseeing gambling offerings within the province has already expressed its support.
Support Expressed
Over the past 35 years, British Columbia Lottery Corporation has been supporting the host community in various ways and this is the latest step in this general direction. For quite a while, the project Kamloops Center of Arts has been a topic of wide discussion and April 4 is about to see a vote for the community to also express its position. The community would have the chance to vote on a referendum.
It would voice its support for the CA$45-million project, having the chance to express their position on the subject. KCA Society is projected to borrow this amount and cover the construction of a diverse project that would make it possible for live performance and more special events to take place in Kamloops. Such a move is expected to put the city on the events map.
The Kamloops Center for the Arts is projected to feature a main stage theatre, as well as a studio theatre. The project would also allow artists to have a premium rehearsal and production space for their organized meetings, in addition to a black box flexible space. The diversified zone is also expected to feature retail areas, meeting rooms and more.
April 4 Sees Referendum
Mr. Moore recently voiced the support the Crown corporation has for this project aiming to boost the arts in Kamloops. The local culture has to be supported and British Columbia Lottery Corporation encourages people to make their way to one of the numerous voting locations and to cast their vote on the subject on April 4. This would make it possible for the community to achieve more down the road.
He pointed out that for decades now, the Crown corporation has supported local arts and organizations striving to develop this field in Kamloops and the entire province. Educating people on quality art is essential for their personal development and the quality of life they have as a whole. The project is expected to draw more eyeballs towards the city and make it a more attractive destination.
In addition to that, the new project is expected to boost the local employment market, as more people would be needed for the normal operation of the Kamloops Center for the Arts. It is also projected to encourage more people to turn their eyes towards the arts and possibly develop in this area, finding their hidden talents. In less than a month they would have the chance to participate in the official referendum.
