The sports wagering scene of the United States has become progressively more vibrant over the past fifteen months, following the milestone decision of the United States Supreme Court. Now Toronto-based media TheScore announced it launches operation in the New Jersey sports wagering field just in time for the upcoming football season. Earlier this year, the media commenced a conversation with Ottawa on single-event sports betting in Canada.
When it comes to regulated betting on live sports events, New Jersey has been a pioneer with a vast range of offerings over the past more than a year. The state was ready for action as soon as the US Supreme Court overruled PASPA and allowed states the freedom to make an informed choice on sports betting. Last year the state gave green light to both in-person and mobile sports betting that made it a hotspot on the east coast.
TheScore Enters the Field
Atlantic City has been associated with expanded gaming offerings able to attract a diverse crowd. Ever since it launched legal sports wagering operation, neighboring states have observed a flow of players ready to try their luck at both in-person and mobile sports wagering available. New York State experts have been particularly worried that players prefer it for its proximity and millions of American dollars flow that way on an annual basis.
Now following months of preparation, theScore enters the field ready to give something new to local players. Mobile sports wagering powered by the leading Canadian force would soon launch operation in New Jersey. The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement gave its approval recently, meaning that the state would soon welcome the new online betting player.
For the time being, no certain date of the launch has been announced. However, theScore has confirmed that a soft launch of its brand new mobile application would take place in the foreseeable future. This is expected to make the offering even more accessible for players across New Jersey ready to explore the new sportsbook and everything up for grabs.
July Was Bad for Sports Wagering
The new sportsbook app is going to be a separate one from the already existing and widely popular media one. TheScore would still make it possible for players to have fast and easy access to its main app and learn more about the sports world, as well as read informative prognoses on future sports events. This new entrant in the already vibrant field would compete with rival giants such as DraftKings, FanDuel, and more.
New Jersey has seen stellar sports wagering performance over the past months, generating a whopping US$1.925-billion total gaming revenue up since the beginning of this year. The month of July saw US$17.9 million in total gaming revenue, marking a US$9-million jump when compared to June’s performance.
Such an achievement also equated to a quadruple increase year-on-year. Meanwhile, sports wagering revenue suffered a big slump. July saw sports betting revenue barely scratching US$251.4 million or a US$22-million drop from June’s sports wagering figures. This is also the worst month for sports wagering year-to-date.
