New York has already greenlighted sports wagering across several commercial and tribal casino venues, but there are many more preparing for their time to shine. Akwesasne Mohawk Casino Resort is among the remaining venues that are yet to cut the ribbon and reap the fruits of its labor. The tribal resort is currently working on the existing Sticks Sports Bar and its expansion facilitating sports wagering.
Maintaining a facility as competitive as possible is crucial for the successful development of every casino venue. Tribal locations are a breath of fresh air to the local field, constantly working on keeping up with their commercial rivals in the gaming field. The casino resort is located in Hogansburg and for many years now it has been able to support the local community and offer steady jobs for Indigenous people. The introduction of legal sports wagering would elevate its performance even further.
The Stars Group Powers Wagering
The 140,000-square-foot casino resort is currently working on the expansion on site, approaching its deadline with each passing day. In order to offer its casino patrons premium sports wagering experience, the management is about to introduce essential changes to the existing Sticks Sports Bar.
As a result of this, the special zone is going to become Stick’s Sports Bar and Sports Book in the near future. All in all, sports betting offerings are going to be spread over 5,200 square feet of space adjacent to the casino floor. Work on it is progressing at the moment and things are beginning to take shape. Akwesasne Casino’s management recently offered updates on the progress highlighting some of the main selling points of this new zone.
Stick’s Sports Bar and Sports Book would feature an HD video wall, in addition to some 25 TV screens offering a constant stream of sports events. The expansion has been in progress and if everything goes according to the initial timeline, this fall could see the launch of sports betting on site.
Preparation Is In Progress
In addition to the sports betting lounge, Akwesasne Mohawk Casino Resort is also about to welcome casino patrons and families with children to the dining area. It is going to feature seasonal craft brewery selection from Maple Brewing and a new expanded menu. As it has been confirmed last month, the sportsbook available on site is going to be powered by Canadian gaming giant The Stars Group.
The advanced gaming offering is about to transform the casino resort, while also reserving an excellent spot for The Stars Group in New York State’s online gaming field. Mobile sports betting is projected to become legalized following a potential State Constitution amendment and the public input of New Yorkers.
Once this happens, the local sports betting field would be a competitive rival to neighboring states such as Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The tribal casino venue would join other tribal venues such as Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona and Point Place Casino in Bridgeport. Oneida Indian Nation oversees both venues and it greenlighted sports wagering operation at the beginning of August.
