May 4 would be a special day for everyone interested in Thoroughbred horse racing, as Hastings Racecourse is going to see the official start of the 2019 racing season on site. This year is going to feature 51 live dates that would transform the Vancouver field with its exciting races. In celebration of 130 years of excellence, Hastings Racecourse would strive to go above and beyond.
Hastings Racecourse would launch the official Season Opening ceremony next Saturday guaranteeing extensive entertainment for all enthusiasts and their preferences. Something that would elevate the experience even further would be the four live races featuring CA$50,000 stakes events. Projections are that they would attract the attention of as many enthusiasts as possible. Darren MacDonald, Regional Director of British Columbia Racing expressed his excitement.
Live Racing Commences
With the grand anniversary on its way, the race track wants to celebrate it in the best way possible. This could happen thanks to the live races, but also with the help of the live coverage of 2019 Kentucky Derby taking place at Churchill Downs. The famous event would take place on May 4 at 3:50 p.m. ET and it will see its 145th edition this year. Everyone interested will have the chance to watch live.
Streaming will happen via the jumbo screen available on site, as well as on the numerous televisions sprinkled across the horse racetrack. Earlier that day enthusiasts will have the chance to see the $50,000 Swift Thoroughbred Inaugural, Brighouse Belles, Ross McLeod and Jim Coleman Province heating the location for more live racing set to come.
They will have the chance to commence the celebration at 1:50 p.m. This first day is going to be filled with thrill, but the second one is also a heated one. May 5 is a special day celebrating Cinco de Mayo which would be enjoyed at Hastings Racecourse as well. For the first time, the location would see a Cinco De Mayo Day featuring a live ECCW wrestling card.
Wiener Dog Races Get More Days
According to the official schedule of the opening weekend, it is going to commence at 6 p.m. and transform the main mezzanine into a heated location. Tickets for participation could be purchased on site. On this day racing action is going to commence at 1:50 p.m. At the moment, as many as 500 horses are present on site of the race track and many more are expected to make their way there soon.
For those interested in having a good time, there will be many food trucks available to the likes of Waikiki Food Truck, Cheezee Does It Food Trailer, Cherry Bomb Donuts, Bandidas Taqueria, Yo Bones Food Truck. Wagering is also going to be heated in the upcoming racing season with the addition of more days to already beloved events such as Wiener Dog Races, Corgi Races, and Bull Dog Races.
