Now it has been confirmed that AECOM Canada Ltd. is going to take care of the project and guarantee it would be ready to open by the end of 2019.
Ever since this April saw the official announcement of the casino project and some details about it were issued, the region has been eager to see them come to fruition. Durham Live casino may be just what the doctor ordered for Pickering City and the recent development proves this to be the case. This week saw the announcement that the construction engineering company AECOM has been hired in order to ensure that the project goes according to the previously established schedule
Casino Project Approaches Launch Date
Work on the future casino facility will have to happen in a timely manner. The leading company in the field will have the essential task of looking into all technical aspects of the casino project, as the launch of operation on site is projected to happen within the following year. This was confirmed on December 3 during the City Council’s inaugural congregation.
Kellino Street is going to become one of the frequented areas of the city, as this is where fervent gaming action will be taking place once the casino venue opens for business. According to the information listed in the report which saw the day of light this week, the gaming project is among the highly anticipated projects to be finished next year and all parties involved in it are working in unison in order to optimize the process.
At the moment, the proposed plan for the casino venue is being thoroughly looked through, as to ensure that the fire and life safety measures are adequately placed across the venue. It should be taken into account that the additional help provided by the construction engineering company will cost about CA$183,500 including harmonized sales tax which is a mandatory component. Some CA$1.5 million will be needed for the preliminary building permit of Durham Live.

Project Lead Expected to Join the Team Soon
About a week ago Debbie Hynes, Director Human Resources at One Toronto Gaming posted a job offer on LinkedIn seeking to employ a Project Lead of the casino project in Pickering. The ideal candidate will be able to oversee the process of development of the casino venue, paying special attention to the financial side of things. Existing policies and common practices will also have to be maintained over the span of the entire construction period.
In addition to that, the Project Lead will have to actively participate in the leadership group interviewing potential casino workers. Durham Live will be the result of Great Canadian Gaming and Brookfield Business Partners’ joint efforts. The venture is called Ontario Gaming GTA LP, expected to significantly impact the region. Back in April when the project was first announced, the company revealed that Durham Live will be able to guarantee about 10,000 individuals a permanent employment.
Workers at the currently operating Casino Ajax will be relocated to the new casino venue once it is ready to launch operation and welcome its first casino patrons towards the end of 2019. A convention center will be available on site, priding space for a wide array of events. The project will also include a hotel tower, which will be able to provide individuals with accommodation, further solidifying the family-friendly nature of Durham Live.
