Most recently, Ontario-based NorthStar Gaming announced that it will debut its digital sports betting and gambling platform across Canada. Soon its iGaming platform will be available to Canadians via NorthStarBets.com, which will go online in the coming weeks. Prior to this launch, the company was only available to bettors in Ontario.
The company offers a uniquely local, premium user experience via its made-in-Ontario casino and sportsbook gaming platform, NorthStar Bets. Its sportsbook comes with real-time news, stats, analysis, and scores directly into the wagering environment, along with some of the industry’s best casino titles. The firm also delivers managed services to the iGaming website, Spreads.ca.
Expanding Country-Wide
Chair and CEO of the gambling firm, Michael Moskowitz stated that the team is pleased to make its gaming platform available throughout the country and make it a national brand. He added that as a Canadian company, the operator better understands the local consumers than the large global competitors and that the local brand offers a premium experience that matches players’ needs.
To promote the country-wide launch, the company kicked off a multi-channel advertising campaign titled “That’s a Win” to create awareness of the brand. This initiative highlights the premium gaming experience of the iGaming platform. Thanks to the campaign, users can also expect in-market promotions in the next two months related to major events in the country.
Canadians can now enjoy real-time sports news, statistics, analysis and proprietary editorial content integrated directly into the betting environment. In addition to that, the company also recently launched an Artificial Intelligence tool. The AI tool is set to provide customers with a daily selection of personalized sports wagers based on their previous selections.
The launch is projected to boost the operator’s addressable market and accelerate its growth. According to estimations, the Canadian online sports betting and iGaming market will reach CA$8.5 billion by 2026 and more than 60% of the market is outside Ontario. By expanding its brand, the company will be better positioned as provinces launch their regulatory frameworks.
Now, NorthStarBets.com will be made available to Canadians through a wholly-owned subsidiary of the operator purchased earlier this year with the purchase of Slapshot Media Inc. This was the first step towards national expansion. Meanwhile, customers in Ontario will continue to access the platform through the existing NorthStarBets.ca website.
Inking a Subscription Agreement
In September, the Ontario gambling brand announced it had entered a subscription agreement dated September 21, 2023, with Playtech plc. The latter is a prominent gaming supplier of software and services. Via the deal, the company will now purchase securities of the operator for an average purchase price of CA$10 million.
