The New York Racing Association informed last week that season passes for the 2023 summer meet at its iconic Saratoga Race Course are now available for purchase. They have been available from April 5, 2023, starting at US$75, and fans will be able to get them at this price until the end of May 2023. After that passes will cost US$85 and eventually US$95.
Passes can be bought on NYRA.com/Saratoga and one of those gives guests admission for the Travers and all 40 days of the track’s summer meet. Buying a season at US$75 a piece translates to less than two dollars per day of racing. Without a season pass, the Travers Day advance general admission is US$25 per guest.
Now Available
Starting from June 1, 2023, the passes will cost US$85, and from July 1 they will rise to US$95. This year’s seasonal passes again come with universal access to amenities located throughout the track, in line with NYRA’s recent announcement that it will be removing the two-tiered pricing structure that provided admission to either the Clubhouse or the Grandstand.
NYRA Vice President, Sales and Hospitality, Kevin Quinn said that season passes are ideal for regular visitors and horse racing fans who intend on spectating on Travers Day. He also advised everyone who plans on buying a season pass to do so by Memorial Day, in order to get the best value and deepest savings possible on their admission to the track throughout the summer.
Visitors should also know that the single-day admission to the racing track comes at US$7 per capita when purchased at least 24 hours in advance or US$10 on the day of the event. Also, single-day admissions will be available to purchase starting from June 1, 2023. More information on the season or daily passes and pricing can be found on NYRA’s official website.
In the meantime, the horse racing industry is strapping in for another exciting edition of the Saratoga summer meet in 2023. This year’s meet will be highlighted by the 154th edition of Grade 1, US$1.25 million Travers on August 26, 2023, and the Grade 1, US$1 million Whitney on August 5, 2023. The 40-day summer meet kicks off on Thursday, July 13 and runs through September 4, 2023.
Previously, the organization announced that in total, the track will contest 71 world-class stakes events which will feature over US$20.8 million in purse money. For this summer, the regulator Grade I Ballerina will move back to Travers Day, and The Grade I Personal Ensign will be contested on Friday, August 25. The summer meet will start its four-day opening weekend but will continue to five days a week.
Awaiting Decision
In the meantime, NYRA is also patiently waiting for a decision on its request for a major borrowing plan for its Belmont Park racetrack. The renovation project would create jobs and bring economic benefits, and a financial lifeline for the industry. It was also backed by dozens of people this week who gathered at Albany to show support.
