This weekend, Saratoga Race Course’s summer meet is about to come to an end. And in order to celebrate the successful season, the New York Racing Association announced that it will be hosting a special premium giveaway for its many fans. Attendees will be able to win several NYRA-themed items and enjoy free ice cream at Stewart’s Shops from Friday.
The historic Saratoga Race Course is one of the three state-run tracks by the New York Racing Association. Its 2022 summer meet began in July and it will officially conclude on Monday, September 5, 2022. And so far, the meet has enjoyed plenty of interest from fans, as it has recorded an impressive boost in handle and track attendance.
Celebrating an Impressive Meet
On Friday, September 2, 2022, NYRA will host a premium giveaway to award its many horse racing fans for yet another successful summer meet. Visitors will be awarded a mini umbrella by NYRA Bets. The umbrella is red and white and comes with the iconic red logo of the Saratoga Race Course. The item is free and fans will also get a coupon, however, they are limited.
Starting from Friday, at 1 p.m. attendees will also be able to enjoy free ice cream from Stewart’s Shops. The ice cream will be made available adjacent to the clubhouse or grandstand exchange on a first come first served basis. The association informs that season ticket and season pass holders are not guaranteed an item from the giveaway.
NYRA further explained that fans will be required to present a coupon at the designated locations at the track, in order to receive the complimentary item. Guests will be able to do so until Monday, September 5, 2022, as it is the last day of the track’s summer meet. Fans are advised to hurry up if they want to claim some of the items, as they are limited in supply.
All-Time High Interest
In August, NYRA reported that the 2022 summer meet attracted an immense volume of fans to the track. The organization that betting handle and attendance have drastically improved over the ones from the 2021 meet. And after the tremendous four-day opening of the season, the association projected that the track could be set for a record-breaking season in numbers.
According to NYRA, for the first 20 days of the summer meet, the track has generated over US$431 million in handle. In comparison for the same period of last year, it was lower with US$402 million. This year’s numbers are a 7.3% increase from the previous ones. While attendance hit 512,683, which is also an improvement on 2021’s 502,266.
In July, NYRA informed of its plans to build a new backstretch clinic at the Saratoga Race Course. The organization even held a special groundbreaking ceremony for the occasion on July 13, 2022. The hospital would replace a doublewide trailer that is currently used at the track for healthcare services. It will also secure a drastically enhanced experience for those who need to receive primary or emergency healthcare.
