The government of Quebec announced on Friday that vaccinated individuals from the province will have the chance of winning even more prizes in the immunization lottery campaign. Besides, the cash rewards, participants can now also win a vacation package to Mexico provided by Air Canada, along with a travel voucher to any domestic or international destination that the airline travels to.
The special vaccination lottery program was introduced by the Quebec government as an incentive to get more people from the province vaccinated for the unprecedented situation. This way the province will be able to return sooner to its normality and its usual conditions for operations. The promotion features huge prizes in cash and now even more rewards.
Extension of Prizes
Air Canada has revealed new prizes added to the lotto vax promotion, which include a vacation package to Mexico, travel vouchers for any destination that the company flies to, and bonus points for its Aeroplan program. Bombardier airlines have also announced a winner and six guests with the opportunity to fly on a business jet from Montreal to Quebec City.
However, in order for residents to participate in the voyage rewards, eligible candidates must be vaccinated with two doses and register for the draw before August 31 at 11:59 p.m. Health Minister Christian Dubé praised the campaign and reminded locals that the province possesses more than enough vaccine doses for people with or without an appointment.
The province has previously revealed that vaccinated locals who have received two doses of a vaccine by August 31, will be eligible for the grand prize of CA$1,000,000. The prize will be drawn on September 3. Starting from August 6, residents can also participate in weekly draws with rewards of CA$150,000, but in order to be eligible, they must have had a least one shot of a vaccine.
There are rewards even for the younger demographic as the province has also announced that children between 12 and 17 can also enter a weekly draw for two CA$10,000 scholarships. Then on September 3, a draw will be held which will reward the younger one with 16 scholarships of CA$20,000 for children with two doses prior to August 31.
Problem Launch
Shortly after the official launch of the vax lottery program, the online regulated platform for the province has experienced some technical difficulties. The registration was scheduled to begin on Sunday, July 25, with the process launching at 8 a.m., however, the website displayed the message that it was down and the team was working on a fix. The crash was due to the enormous amount of people trying to register for the hefty cash prizes.
Alberta’s Promotion
Another Canadian jurisdiction that has similarly adopted a lotto vax program was Alberta. The campaign is named Open for the Summer and it has started earlier than Quebec’s. The first draw for the promo has already occurred and Tracey McIvor from Langdon is the first big winner from the program, with her prize amounting to CA$1 million.
