Caesars Windsor is currently preparing for the official relaunch of in-person casino gaming on October 8 but this would not have an influence on other casino locations in the region. Casino Niagara and Niagara Fallsview Casino will have to remain closed for the time being, as it has been confirmed by Niagara Casinos President Richard Taylor.
This summer saw Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation announced that casino venues across the province could relaunch daily operation with a patrons’ limit of 50 individuals present at all times. This limit ended up concerning the casino operators working within the province, as the small number of patrons was projected to harm them. Right now, some of them prefer to remain closed.
Casino Niagara
Caesars Windsor recently announced that in-person gambling will be available on its premises at the beginning of October, making it possible for players to experience the forgotten thrill of gambling. However, this decision would not affect other casino resorts operating in the region, such as the two gaming hotspots in Niagara Falls, Ontario.
With a recent announcement, Casino Niagara and Niagara Fallsview Casino made it clear that they would not return to daily operation in the foreseeable future. The limit on people that could be admitted at the casinos is still mandatory and launch of operation could end up being unsustainable for the gaming hotspots. Casino Niagara brings some 95,000 square feet of gaming space, whereas Niagara Fallsview Casino comes with 200,000 square feet.
In this sense, allowing only 50 individuals at all times is not projected to amass a gaming revenue enough to keep the casinos running and cover all the expenses surrounding their daily operation. They have had the chance to do so ever since July but this has remained their firm position to this day. President Taylor stated that the process of evaluation is in progress.
Niagara Fallsview Casino
He pointed out that reopening is being considered as an option, given the limited number of patrons that will be welcomed on the premises of the casino. A potential reopening of the venues at the tourist hotspot could happen in the upcoming months, once Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation greenlights the next stage of the business reopening plan, it could bring a larger limit on the patrons allowed to gamble.
The two casino resorts are popular destinations for tourists coming from near and far. Casino Niagara is the older one, as it welcomed its first patrons in 1996. Ever since then, the community has successfully received some CA$154.5 million in non-tax gaming revenue. Ever since March, they have been closed for business and the city coffers sustain a considerable loss of gaming revenue allocations later on used for various local projects.
Casino Niagara and Niagara Fallsview Casino have both worked on their safety protocols that are ready for implementation. They have received the approvals needed and will be introduced as soon as the Crown corporation allows a higher number of casino patrons within the venues. Some 4,000 full-time workers await their return to the two casino resorts.
