Gateway Casinos and Entertainment is still evaluating the situation across Ontario when it comes to casino operation and the development of new projects. The construction of Starlight Casino London remains without a particular timeline, as the unprecedented situation veils it in uncertainty. The CA$75-million casino complex is projected to transform the region with new offerings.
Every casino operator wants its well-rounded casino complex to meet the expectations of the host community and to improve the gaming situation. It is an independent approach that does not require collaboration with a racetrack, for example. This gives the new venture the chance to introduce a more diverse portfolio and attract a wider audience of gaming enthusiasts. Such is the case with Gateway Casinos.
CA$75-million Project
The casino operator wanted to have its own casino complex in London, Ontario and to be able to bring a diverse casino venue, along with a premium restaurant venue and various food and beverage options. This could happen with the help of its project at 3334 Wonderland Road South, introducing a casino complex that would operate under the Starlight casino brand.
However, the unprecedented situation has taken its toll on the province in general, as well as construction across Ontario. This spring saw the casino project stall, as Gateway Casinos had to put an end to work on the construction site of the future casino hotspot back in March. At the time, the gaming leader could not specify a particular date for the relaunch of casino construction in London because of the uncertain situation that was dynamically changing.
The gaming complex is supposed to span over 10,000 square meters and offer both gambling offerings attracting eyeballs, and more family-friendly gaming opportunities, diversifying the revenue sources down the road. When it comes to Gateway Casinos, its casino complexes usually take about a year to be finished, depending on the circumstances and the magnitude of the project.
Projections
The casino operator recently highlighted that for the time being, no particular forecast could be made for the London project. Gateway Casinos wants to obtain more information regarding physical distancing and whether or not it will actually become the new normal, impacting its operation for the foreseeable future. London Mayor Ed Holder also expressed his opinion on the subject.
He stated that Starlight Casino London is projected to create more than 700 new job positions for the people hailing from the region, which is a positive boost. Moreover, Gateway Casinos London which offers slot machines at Western Fair District might be closed at the moment, but it has been generating fair gaming revenue allocations for the city coffers for decades now. This support is what the community needs.
There are 760 slot machines, as well as 11 table games available there and locals look forward to the day when its official relaunch will unveil all safety measures implemented. It could be recalled that 3334 Wonderland Rd. rezoning has been approved last year and back then, the casino operator was projecting a 2021 launch of the casino.
