Woodbine Entertainment is striving to make horse racing more popular than ever, which could happen via live streaming of upcoming events on TV. June 11 saw the official start of the new Racing Night Live slot on TSN. Over the course of the following weeks, enthusiasts will get the chance to watch both Standardbred and Thoroughbred live races on the national sports network.
Both Woodbine Racetrack and Woodbine Mohawk Park launched operation last week and they hosted several live races already. For the time being, no spectators are allowed to make their way to the live race and watch them in-person which is why they will rely on live streaming. Earlier this month Woodbine Entertainment announced its collaboration with TSN.
Racing Night Live
Over the course of 13 weeks, horse racing enthusiasts will get the chance to watch the horse races on TV and appreciate the great visuals coming with them. The streaming itself will make it possible for the fans to witness the races from a different perspective, as the cameras are closely following the action.
June 11 saw the first edition of the Racing Night Live broadcast. TSN3 and TSN5 are going to broadcast a wide variety of racing events part of the rich schedule of Woodbine Mohawk Park and Woodbine Racetrack. The former is located in Milton, whereas the latter is located in Toronto, but both are ready to introduce a riveting live 2020 season to all their fans.
Laura Diakun and Woodbine Entertainment’s Jason Portuondo are taking care of the show, as they host it and provide the necessary commentary and information. Brodie Lawson and Chad Rozema are taking care of the reports also part of the live broadcast. They make it easy for individuals at home to follow everything happening and to place their bets taking into account the information.
June 18 Sees Next Broadcast
June 11 saw the first show commence at 6 p.m. ET and it broadcasted three Standardbred races along with three Thoroughbred ones. The setting itself was a visually pleasing one, as the races were during the golden hour. All of this was caught on camera and horse racing fans were able to enjoy it. There was also a drone helping with the footage, making the experience a well-rounded one and including all camera angles.
The new show will also aim to attract new enthusiasts to the horse racing field. The Top 5 ‘Things to Know about Horse Racing’ was one of the segments that could spark the interest of many individuals. They had the chance to learn more about the dynamically changing field and projections are that many of them will return next Thursday at the same time.
Woodbine Entertainment Chief Executive Officer Jim Lawson was interviewed during the broadcast, sharing his thoughts on the new season. In a previous online Q&A, he pointed out that the horse racing field is ready for the next phase of its development, one that will focus more on the races, instead of the betting possibility they bring.
